One Bond Hunt Ends

I've been searching for the edition of Kim Sherwood's "Double Or Nothing" (shown below) for several months now.  I knew it was available in Australia but strangely there were few copies in book stores around Melbourne.

I first encountered a physical copy at Dymocks in the City, however only one copy existed on the shelves and it was damaged in the top left corner of the front cover.  So I visited many, many more book stores on the hunt for another elusive copy.  When I finally found one at Robinson's Bookshop in Frankston I was disappointed to discover it too was damaged in the top left corner of the cover.  I suspect the books were damaged in transit from the UK.

Tired of travelling book store to book store without success I decided it was time to take an alternate course.  Now I'm well aware I could order this book cheaper online but I'd rather go through the traditional methods when possible.  So I asked Robinson's to order another copy... and it arrived yesterday with a perfect cover.

Here's the existing copy on their shelves.  The cover damage (top left) really is very minor but as I've no plans to read this edition I'd prefer my copy to be in as perfect condition as possible.

I was pleased to finally knock this book off my wants list.  Another Bond hunt ends.

"Forever And A Day" Paperback Purchased

On April 4th the paperback edition of Anthony Horowitz's latest James Bond novel "Forever And A Day" was released in the UK.  It always takes a little while for UK books to reach Australian shores, but the other week I managed to purchase my copy from Robinson's Bookshop at Chadstone.

Tonight I scanned the cover and updated the PizGloria.com website.  Here's a link to this title.

I also visited a number of other book stores simply because I love books and it's always good to see what's going on.  Sorry the photos are so dark but I visited the City one night after work.

More Model Cars + Making Of Spectre Coffee Book

Since my last post I've received three more model cars in the mail.  The cars were released for the James Bond Car Collection part-works series several years ago.  I think they look great, especially with the dioramas.  This completes my purchase of all six model cars that were released in this series for "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".

I also made a visit to the City last Sunday to pick up a copy of the hardback coffee book "Blood, Sweat and Bond" featuring behind the scenes photos from the most recent James Bond film "Spectre".  The book was published by DK in 2015 and curated by Rankin.  For some reason this Bond book is quite difficult to find on shelves here in Oz, so Robinson's Bookshop at the Emporium store in the City had to create a special order.

Surprise City Book Hunt - Part 2

Following on from yesterday's post, today my wife and I spent our second day in the City and visited a few more book stores.

The first was Dymocks on Collins Street where I was looking for the newly released paperback reprint of "Trigger Mortis" by Anthony Horowitz.  No luck though.  I also searched for a Young Bond reprint by Charlie Higson to complete the set and checked out the Bond books in the movie section.

Second we visited Robinson's Bookshop at the Emporium.  No luck here, although I did almost get hit by a wayward ladder.

We then made our way to Elizabeth Street where we checked out Minotaur.

And finally we visited All Star Comics while making our way back to the hotel to check out. I didn't even know this store existed at this location.  Heaps of mags and a lots of collectables but no Bond stuff for me today.

Finally, while in the City we visited the excellent Scorsese Exhibition at ACMI, Fed Square.  Here's some snaps.  I know it would never happen but he would direct a brilliant Bond film.  Perhaps "007 In New York" !
