We attended the exhibition last Sunday and for me it proved to be just as good the second time round as the first. I noticed a few props and exhibits I couldn't remember seeing previously, and as an added bonus the Aston Martin DBS Vantage from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" on show near the Museum entrance last November...
... had been replaced by the Toyota 2000GT from "You Only Live Twice". Excellent to see this car in the flesh!
Afterwards Jean-Claude admitted he'd enjoyed the exhibition a lot, and like me the first time was really surprised at the quality and presentation of the items on show. It's such a shame the exhibition is leaving Melbourne forever in less than a week, but wherever it's travelling to next the people who visit are going to be very impressed.
As usual I took a few photos. Here's some of them:
The queue to enter was much longer this time than in November of last year.Great still from "Diamonds Are Forever". I don't remember seeing this image last time.
Bond-ish display hanging above the Bond Bar.
Another photo of the Aston Martin DB5 from "Goldeneye" with the gun-barrel style entrance to the exhibition in the background.
Larger than life villians.
I've been to see this exhibition twice now and I'd love to go back once more, but I think I won't have the time. It was a great exhibition. I especially liked the casino room, and the use of crates in the gadgets room with the stencilled lettering that mimicked the classic Fleming hardcovers.
ReplyDeleteI'll be sad to see this exhibition go, but I'm glad I got to see it.
I agree teeritz, the exhibition was great and definitely worth more than visit. I liked the casino room too with the film footage on loop featuring the same costumes as those on display. An excellent coup for Melbourne
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I walked into the Casino Room just as Sylvia Trench said; "I admire your luck, Mr..."
ReplyDeleteAnd as Connery uttered Bond's immortal introduction, my eyes got a little misty.
And yes, definitely a coup for Melbourne. There was a time when something like this exhibition would have gone to Sydney only.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely !
ReplyDeleteThey reversed Roger Moore's photo! I bloody hate it when photo editors do that! And at a design exhibition!!
ReplyDeleteSorry Bill, missed your comment until now. Yep it's strange when they reverse photos or images of Bond. So obvious when he's holding a gun. Reminds me of the Connery "Diamonds Are Forever" poster. Thanks for the comment and sorry for my delay in responding
